1. Introduction
Discodoo respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights. We only collect data needed to run the service or that you provide voluntarily.
2. Data we collect
- Contact form: If you contact us, we store your name, email, subject, and message so we can reply. We use this only for that purpose.
- Newsletter: If you subscribe, we store your email address with your consent to send information about discounts and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Push notifications: If you subscribe to reminders for new shop codes or expiring vouchers, we store your push subscription with the relevant shop or voucher. You can revoke browser permissions or the subscription at any time.
- Code reports: If you report a broken or expired voucher, we may store your report and optionally your email to update our lists and contact you if needed.
- Usage statistics (website/PWA): To improve the service, the website and installed app may send anonymised events to our servers (e.g. shop clicks or code copies). For unique PWA users we use a device ID generated locally in the browser. We do not link it to your identity or sell this data.
- Browser extension: If you install our extension, (a) the domain of the page you visit (e.g. amazon.co.uk) is sent over HTTPS to fetch codes for that shop; (b) saved favourite shops are stored locally in the browser and not sent to us; (c) affiliate links may open when you click a code or offer—only after your explicit click. We do not sell extension data to third parties.
3. Local storage – on your device only
To keep the site working smoothly, we store certain settings and history only in your browser (localStorage). This data does not leave your device and is not accessible on our servers.
- Cookie/privacy choice: Your selection (essential only / accept all) so we do not ask every visit.
- Favourites: Lists of favourite vouchers and shops for quick access.
- Recently used codes: A short history (e.g. last 10 clicked offers) including when used, for text such as “Last code use: yesterday” on shop pages. Stored only on your device.
- In the browser extension: Saved shops and session state (e.g. shops opened via the extension) in browser storage. This data does not leave your device.
4. Cookies, analytics, and legal bases
We use technically necessary storage (e.g. to remember your cookie choice in localStorage) based on our legitimate interest in running a functional website and, where needed, to provide the service you request.
Optional analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics 4) are only used if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner or enable analytics in “Customise” (consent). Without consent, no analytics scripts load. You can withdraw consent anytime via “Cookie settings” in the footer, by clearing local storage for this site, or through your browser settings.
5. Affiliate links and advertising
Some shop links are affiliate links. If you buy after clicking, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. The shop may use its own cookies to see that you came from Discodoo; their use of data is governed by their privacy policy.
6. Processors and hosting
We use hosting providers to run the website (servers in the UK or EEA where possible). Contact messages may be delivered via email services (e.g. Resend). Push notifications require server components and browser APIs. We use data processing agreements with processors where required by UK GDPR.
7. Retention and security
We keep personal data only as long as needed for each purpose (e.g. answering a query or sending reminders). You can ask us to delete your data. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures against unauthorised access and loss.
8. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data we hold, and in certain cases to restrict processing, data portability, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. If you gave consent (e.g. newsletter, push reminders, or analytics cookies), you can withdraw it at any time. Contact contact@discodoo.co.uk for requests or privacy questions.
You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when needed. The current version is always on this page. For significant changes we may inform you on the website or by email where appropriate.
